Step-by-Step Instructions

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). In a large Dutch oven, combine the pork shoulder, barbecue sauce, and 1 cup of water. Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven. Braise the pork for 6-8 hours, or until it is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

While the pork is cooking, prepare the coleslaw. In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and sugar. Mix well to combine and refrigerate until ready to use.

Once the pork is done, remove it from the pot and shred it with two forks. Strain the cooking liquid and discard the excess fat. Add the shredded pork back to the pot and toss it with the strained cooking liquid and additional barbecue sauce, if desired.
